Thank you for the brilliant newsletter! And I had a request for a possible future newsletter, inspired by this sentence from that man your husband worked with: "you don’t have to worry about aging and sick parents yet". I bet I'm not the only one of your readers who does actually have little kid problems and aging parent problems! I am really struggling to find a way to be patient and gracious while sandwiched in between the competing needs of my elderly, now-very-hearing-impaired mother and my toddler. (Sidenote; how like a dude to be all "little kid problems are EASY"?!) Anyway, I'd love a discussion about this subject! Thank you again for the newsletter, easily my 2021 fav, and have a fabulous holiday. PS Delia*s 4eva.
Thank you! And thank you for the suggestion--this has been in the back of my mind for awhile but I wasn't sure if anybody was looking for it. I will pursue this topic in '22.
You deserve all the rest, peace and quiet you can get. Thanks for this awesome newsletter that I, a witch with no children, enjoy very much. I'm going into 2022 with no expectations. I don't want to hear predictions, forecasts, projections, trends to watch, nada. But I do know I will look forward to this newsletter in the year to come, so huzzah to that. Enjoy your long winter's nap!
I have officially reached my Grinchy phase of the holiday season -- tired of all the parties, Nativity plays, a last minute gift for that distant family member (who I see literally once a year and honestly, I bet if you polled everyone at my in-law's family Christmas get-together not a single soul could tell me this person's last name -- aaargh!). etc. Anyway, looking forward to some peace and quiet next week and hoping you find the same. Thanks for the newsletter, it's always the highlight of my inbox. See you in the new year!
Yeah, there was a spate of let's get together (for the first time) from my kids' room parents and I didn't understand why now in December. Personally, December is so busy wouldn't getting together in January make more sense? It wouldn't feel like yet another December obligation and it would be fun to stop the January doldrums.
A friend's grandmother's favorite day was the winter solstice because the days got longer after that. I always considered it a celebration of hope.
Thank you for your newsletter! It's the only one that I subscribe to and read regularly. I even read about topics that I have no stake in (ie, pets). Enjoy your long winter's nap.
All of this really resonated today- the sobriety, the inability to multitask like prepandemic times (or even, the lack of desire to multitask), the supposed “sweet spot,” the long days. Thankful for your writing and hope you enjoy your long break.
Feeling ALLLLLLL of this as I crash like a wrecking ball into the intersection of trying-to-wrap-up-client-work-before-my-kid-is-out-of-school-for-winter-break. Lying on the house petting the dog's head sounds like exactly what I want to do after Friday. And we don't even have a dog.

I love your Substack so much, that DEMAND to pay full price when I re-up my subscription to EVIL WITCHES, woman! None of this 22 % off twaddle!
Goodwill towards E's!!!

Thank you Katie! Let's all grab some well-deserved coziness.
Claire, this is one of your best newsletters yet. :)
Love you JWF. Thanks for answering my panicky bad-boy emails.

Thanks Allison--I hope you can RSVP no to a few things! Blame the kids. It's what they're there for.
