I can't stop thinking too about menstruating refugees (in Ukraine and elsewhere.) I hope they don't gross people out with their gross periods--their fellow refugees have enough going on! /s
I had a terrible no good nightmare inducing Today Sponge experience when I was a young and single witch and will never try a menstrual cup. Ever. Team OB all the way. But I am curious what brand the witches who use period underwear like the best?
following this because I only know about Thinx and the ones mentioned above! I am OK on Thinx. I like how they fit but if I'm sweaty they don't feel great.
I haven't noticed a smell myself and I'm a very humid person overall. They are supposed to be air dried I believe which may or may not be feasible for you

For a bit it was a manufacturing issue OB wise (my ex's mom used these for her entire period journey and is an MD). The anything could be in it makes me laugh bc y'all, there's more estrogen in our water than ever from women peeing and being on BCP, etc. It's a GRAS type product. Never forget the pregnant nurse who was, "I had to change my tinted moisturizer and sunscreen there's so much stuff in there!" WHILE eating Pringles, starburst and drinking diet coke. MaAM 🤔, one of these going into your stomach, one absorbing slightly into skin.
Practicing putting in and taking cup out in shower, learning curve is at least 4 cycles which is like >10 attempts. I like punch down fold. But I really like my cup--- I wanna plug the FEMMY CUP!!! For those w strong or weird pelvic floors, shifting cervical height, cup always seems to leak- this mofo stays bc of design it is incredible and is my goldicup. It looks insane- works so well. Also buy them used on FB in a cup group, they've been sanitized, they cheap to try that way (sani again at your home first). Also like thinx, cloth pads and liners too. I like softcups too for those who want won't dry out, internal and cups not working for them. Tampons shorten my cycle overall guess they are just absorbing away it all. I like my moon phase, tells my ass to sit the hell down and rest each month. Also for my crampy friends- reducing added sugar in luteal phase and crampbark 1 day prior to cycle start + castor oil pack bc I hippie--- my cramps went from 8-10 vomit paint to 2. Yes ... A level 2. Where would my 15yo self be if I knew that?
I want them not taxed. Essential item but for women Soo... Society: don't care. Worldwide most countries don't sell tamps in applicators at all.
Cup longevity can't be beat at 4+ years or longer.
I'm six months in to the menopause countdown but am sad to hear about the ob shortage. I never understood why they weren't more popular. They fit in a pocket, work well, and are more environmentally friendly. I didn't have much success with the cups due to my long torso and short arms, and I gave up altogether after I got an IUD. FWIW some of the obs I bought from Amazon seemed fake and the string sometimes detached, so buyer beware
Ilka, someone local to me emailed me to tell me she has a dozen or so extras. I can mail them to you if you need! I have sent much weirder things in the mail than this.
OMG that is amazing! But I won't make you mail them across the country for me, lol. DV and homeless shelters are always looking for donations if they want to send them there!
Aaah, thank you for this! I did not have much success with my first cup experiment (the dongle thing wasn't long enough and I had a hard time removing it?) so I'm using period underwear (love them!) and pads or tampons until I can work up the courage to give it another shot. I used OB for years but I have a hard time finding them in light, and then felt bad about the plastic wrap so stopped using them entirely. Can we just have an annoyed aside about how most small drugstores and convenience stores only seem to carry one kind of tampon, and only in like superextramaxxxxx size? Anyway, I've also had trouble sourcing regular ol' paper-wrapped, paper-applicator Tampax recently and haven't found any other sustainable/non-plastic options that aren't also total rubbish.
I'll drop a quick plug for Lola, which is a period product subscription service including applicator-free tampons a la OB. It's a bit more pricey than picking up something at Walgreens, but you can customize your boxes and the convenience can't be beat — I'm never stuck without tampons at home anymore! Plus, they're a woman-owned company and they're always dropping cool new products. https://mylola.com/
I too am baffled with the response to Turning Red... are we living in fucking 1822?!

Good to know as I live in Florida and am a generally sweaty person anyway. And do they smell?

I hated cups but love the Cora disc. It’s so so much easier to use, you can have sex (kind of) with it in, and it doesn’t pull your IUD out.
Thank you! I have been wondering how the disc is!

Thanks for posting this! I'll definitely hit up my local Walgreens to see if they have a secret stash of OB. :)
